Farm Status Guild Policy

Farm Status is a World of Warcraft guild on Rexxar server whose current focus in the game is raiding. It is our constant goal to advance ourselves forward in a manner that exposes new content, upgrades our members, and challenges us.

All members are expected to behave as adults and to moderate their behavior to a degree. By this, we simply mean do not lose your temper with guild mates and do not complain to the guild about situations you can correct yourself (such as obtaining items, gold, or groups). Be constructive and reasonable in any concerns or criticisms and address them privately with the appropriate people or keep them to yourself.

That said; we are a group of people who enjoy having fun with each other, often at each other’s expense. Things can and do often get a bit crude but it is all in good fun. If you have a good attitude and do not take yourself too seriously then we will get along just fine and I am sure you will have a great time.

Raid Schedule

Our raid times begin at 7:00pm server time and run until 11:00pm server time on Monday through Thursday.  Off days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and most recognized U.S. Holidays.  Other days may be called as off days and notice will be given in advance.

Raids will rarely, if ever, run beyond the scheduled raid time and it will require a unanimous decision by the raid to extend.  When logging on for raids ensure you log on early enough to take care of all preparations that need to be made for the raid.  The raid begins at 7:00pm and we expect to be clearing at that time.  You need to be online at least fifteen minutes early to receive raid invites and get to the raid target.

Applications

Our need for new members is in a constant state of flux, one week we have all we need and then life comes at us and we may have a few new openings. If you find that your class is not currently in demand by us, do not give up. Keep checking back from time to time.  Our needs change frequently.  Also, feel free to fill out an application and throw it up at any time if you are interested in joining us.  If your application is good we will go back and contact you to see if you are still interested if our needs change.

*Note* During the initial weeks of Cataclysm we will stop actively recruiting until a suitable population is at the level cap again.

Requirements for potential membership are:

  • Must have a Battle.net Authenticator.(Hacked accounts stopped being amusing a long time ago.)
  • Level 85.
  • Your gear will be evaluated and must meet a basic level of quality.
  • Must complete a basic interview with an officer.
  • If applicant is on a different server, must be willing to transfer to a PVE server.
  • You cannot have an active application to another guild, nor apply to another guild as a Farm Status applicant or member.
  • All trials must meet 90% raid attendance during their review period.
  • Must be willing to maintain two raiding specs.

Application Process

In order to join Farm Status you must first obtain an application for membership. You do this by first gaining access to the website and registering.  Then fill out an application form.  Put as much effort into this as possible.  Answer in complete sentences and do not take it lightly.  The application will be reviewed and a reply will be made with comments or further instructions.

At this point you are a Potential Member of Farm Status and will be invited to the guild with the appropriate rank. A potential member begins with no DKP and is not guaranteed any loot. However, it is still possible to receive loot. If an item drops that you want and none of our members need this item, then you would be allowed to bid on and receive it.  There is more information on the applicant’s loot priority in the “Rank Priority” section below.

In order to be promoted to full member status an applicant has to have been evaluated to be able to meet several basic and advanced requirements:

  • Must be very knowledgeable of your class.
  • Maintain the best raiding spec and glyphs during all raids.
  • Must come prepared to every raid:
    • Potions
    • Elixirs/Flasks
    • Bandages
    • Food
    • Reagents
    • Fully repaired
    • ON TIME

Raiding

During raids all participants are expected to be alert and present at their computer during the entire raid.  Going AFK repeatedly at times which will delay the raid (such as before a boss pull) is completely unacceptable.  Break times will be called as necessary.  A start time and end time of the break will be given and all raiders are expected to be back at their computers and ready to proceed by the time the break is over.

Furthermore, devoting less than 100% attention to an encounter is also unacceptable.  If you have a television within viewing distance of your computer we expect that you keep it off during raid times.  If you wish to listen to music then you still need to be able to clearly hear vent and we need to be able to clearly hear you on vent without distortion or obnoxious levels of background noise.  Being drunk or high in a raid will only be permitted in-so-much as it does not affect your performance in any way and you are not overly disruptive to the raid in your altered state of mind.

10-man raid environments are not DKP driven raids. No DKP will be awarded or used in these instances. Likewise, old word, TBC, and WotLK raid instances such as Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ahn’Qiraj, Zul’Gurub, Serpent Shrine Caverns, Tempest Keep, Hyjal, Black Temple, Sunwell, Naxxramas, Ulduar, ToC, and Icecrown will obviously not use DKP either. We usually use sign ups up for 10 man raids which will be conducted on our off nights with alternates and/or people that missed the main raid.

Loot

Items are distributed in two different ways:

  • In 10 man raid instances items will be awarded by the officers based on rolls and as well as veterancy and need to a degree.  This comes into play specifically with regard to Tier items.
  • In 25 man raid instances and encounters items will be awarded using a DKP system.

Remember when loot is awarded it is going to your fellow guild members and friends. We are all interested in improving our characters but your primary duties are to serve the guild and uphold its best interests first. Any item awarded to any player will improve the guild as a whole.

Any issues that you have with loot distribution should be addressed BEFORE loot is distributed, in private, with the loot master and officer taking bids for that item.

Farm Status also distributes tank loot and armor tokens to our main tanks FIRST. Over 90% of all the damage that comes to our raids gets filtered through these few stalwart individuals and we need them to be able to take that damage in as manageable a way as possible.

DKP System

DKP Site

The DKP site can be viewed here Points are gained by attending raids and spent to purchase items which drop during raids. DKP is tracked by the officers of the guild using this system. Though the DKP officers will keep track of your standings to a degree, ultimately, it is your responsibility to keep track of your own point totals.  If there is an issue with being charged incorrectly for an item it is your job to inform the officers of the error on the DKP forum or in-game through whispers to have it corrected.

Farm Status uses a split tier, zero-sum, fixed price DKP system. Points you earn in Tier 7 level instances (Naxxrams, Obsidian Sanctum & Malygos) may only be spent on items from those instances. Points you earn in Tier 8 level instances (Ulduar) may only be spent on items from that instance, etc. We use zero-sum to a degree mainly to determine a bosses DKP value when he is killed by the raid. Zero-sum works by taking the total DKP value of all items dropped by a boss and diving that sum by the number of raid members eligible to receive the points. However, unlike a purist zero-sum system, DKP is still split to the raid when an item is disenchanted and full DKP is still split to the raid if an item is awarded for less than its full price.  This does create a little bit of inflation in the system but because inflation does not start to occur until most members already have all the gear they want or need it is not a major concern.  Fixed cost means there is nearly no bidding beyond Primary and Secondary interest in an item which is explained below. Items are awarded to the person with the most DKP who wants them.

Please note that points are awarded to the player, not the character. You must specify a main character upon joining Farm Status and your alternates will not be allowed to outbid members who need items for their mains. You can switch your primary character over time, but this requires a certain level of veterancy in the guild and a transition period during which you cannot make a primary bid on items.

Points are not allowed to be sold, lent or given to other Players.

Item Distribution

Again, Farm Status uses a zero-sum DKP system for item distribution.

All items of epic quality or higher that drop in a 25+ man raid environment are assigned a base DKP value.  Item prices are determined by taking the Item Level multiplied by a slot modifier for the item.

  • Head                     -              2.00
  • Neck                      -             1.25
  • Shoulder              -             1.65
  • Chest                    -               2.00
  • Waist                     -             1.35
  • Legs                       -              2.00
  • Feet                       -              1.65
  • Wrists                   -              1.35
  • Hands                   -              1.65
  • Finger                   -              1.25
  • Trinket                  -              1.75
  • Back                       -              1.35
  • Weapon (2h)       -             2.50
  • Weapon (Caster 1h)        2.00
  • Weapon (Hunter)            1.00
  • One-hand             -             1.25
  • Off-hand (Caster)             0.50
  • Ranged/Relic     -              1.00
  • Ranged (Hunter)              2.50

When an item of epic quality or higher drops on a raid, a raid officer will announce the item and ask for tells of interest. At that point all raiders interested in this item will whisper the officer taking tells for that item and express his or her level of interest in the item. There are three ways to express interested in an item, Main Spec, Off-Spec & Tanking Set.

  • Main Spec Interest
  • You want this item and are willing to pay full price for it.
  • Other people who also bid primary will still beat you if they have more DKP.
  • What you say: /w Officer Deathbringer’s Will MS.
  • If you win you will be charged the full DKP value.
  • Off-Spec Interest
  • You can use this item, but you don't NEED it, perhaps a situational side grade or for an offset.
  • If anyone bids primary you will not be considered for this item regardless of your DKP standing.
  • If more than one person bids off-spec and no one bids main spec it will be determined by DKP standing.
  • What you say: /w Officer Deathbringer’s Will OS.
  • If you win you will be charged half the DKP value.
  • Tanking Interest
  • This Bid is only available for classes that have been asked to build a Tank Spec for the guild.  It is only allowed to be used in controlled circumstances.
  • If you don't need the item for main or off spec & we would like you to build a set for tanking you are required to bid.
  • The cost for a Tank Price piece is 0 DKP (free).
  • What you say: /w Officer Deathbringer’s Will Tank Spec.

If only one person sends a whisper, they will receive the item for the DKP cost that they indicated either full or half. Attendance can affect loot as well.  If a person only shows up every Tuesday to raid, aside from likely being removed from an active raiding position soon, they will also not be allowed to bid on an item.  After attendance levels and loot priority are evaluated for bidders, items will be awarded to the person with the highest current DKP that has the highest interest level (Primary/Secondary).

In rare situations If more than one person is tied for the most DKP the people with the highest DKP will /random for the item.

Rank Priority

Beyond Primary and secondary rank in the guild does come into play when awarding loot. Each "level" annotated here is considered completely equal and is higher or lower than the level above or below it respectively. (Note: Farmer+ is Guild Master, Officer, Raid Leader, Veteran Farmer and Farmer combined.)

  1. Farmer (or higher) - Main Spec Bid
  2. Trial - Main Spec Bid; Farmer (or higher) - Off-Spec Bid
If a trial bids Main Spec and a Member bids Off-Spec this is evaluated by the officers and decided by them who has priority.
  3. Trial - Off-Spec Bid
  4. Friend/Family - Main SpecBid
  5. Alt - Main Spec Bid; Friend/Family - Off-Spec Bid
  6. Alt - Off-Spec Bid; Non-guilded Raid Participant

Attendance

All members of Farm Status are required to attend all scheduled raid events. Members with less than 90% raid attendance may have a lower loot priority level than members with more than 90% raid attendance. This percentage is subject to change. Your rank and status in the guild may be affected by this over time, but only your loot privileges will be affected immediately. A member with continuing low attendance will also be reviewed and, depending on circumstances, will either be removed from the guild or demoted as time passes.

Sitting Out of Raids

At times you may be available to raid but there may not be sufficient room in the raid group or you may be asked to step out of a raid. You will receive full DKP and attendance credit if you either:

  • Remain logged in on your character and remain available to join the raid (Do not join another raid group or get saved to the content that you are wait-listed for). -or-
  • Log off of your main character on an alternate character that can easily and quickly be reached by the raid leaders if they need you to step in. (It is your responsibility to maintain that you are available to the officers to join the raid and that your name is on the wait list.)
  • Be connected to Ventrilo and able to respond if someone contacts you in Ventrilo.
  • Be available to be contacted with a phone call or a text message (If you choose this method you need to log on before the raid ends to verify that you were available to raid in order to get wait list credit).

Playing Multiple Characters

Points earned through raiding with Farm Status are awarded to the player, not the character.  Hence a member with two raid level characters will have a single pool of points from which to spend when purchasing items for either character.  That said, points will not be awarded by guild alt runs in order to ensure that people that do not get invited to alt runs conducted on off days will not have an unfair disadvantage when receiving loot.  Alts will rarely, if ever, be allowed to join a main raid anyway.

You may not bring another player's character or a boxed alt to a raid without an officer's permission. However, in the event that a player has brought another person's character to the raid, the actual player will be awarded DKP and the character will be unable to purchase any items unless no other members of Farm Status in the raid may benefit from them or an alternate arrangement has been made before hand. Example:

  • Sam has a level 85 Warrior.
  • David has a level 85 Warlock
  • Sam plays David's level 85 warlock for that raid.
  • Sam is being awarded DKP while David is being awarded none.
  • If an item drops that would benefit David's warlock, Sam may only purchase the item (using David's DKP) if no other members of Farm Status in the raid are interested in the item unless it has been agreed previously that David's warlock would receive a certain item and that is the express reason Sam is playing David's warlock.

Self-Removal

  • Following an intentional and seriously motivated self guild removal which you cannot reasonably explain, you will lose all of your earned DKP and will be unable to reapply to Farm Status for a period of one month.
  • ***NOTE*** Members who have been in the guild for less than one month or Initiates would need to go back through the full application process to rejoin the guild. Chances of re-acceptance are slim.

Though these penalties may sound harsh, they're here to discourage members from leaving abruptly to stir up and cause drama. As a mature guild, members ought to be able to address matters in a more positive manner through discussion first.
